We're Back...and Spring has Sprung!

I hope to get these planted soon!

My new rosebush (white tea hybrid rose)

My first rosebush (she is a trooper)

My strawberry plant

There is a strawberry bloom (I actually have 2 more)

There she is (that looks pink doesn't it?)

Another view

I have to say I am a tad embarrassed because it appears that the last time we posted a blog was last year! (Christmas to be exact) Time is truly flying by! March will soon be coming to an end...it just seems like I am trying to keep up with the pace.
We are definitely enjoying the nice weather! Since we have been in our house I have definitely turned into some what of an outside person. You usually couldn't find me outside in the heat or doing any type of outside activities, but I will say that I am really starting to enjoy it. When we purchased our house they put up the usual greenery which was nice, but after awhile I was ready for some color. I knew I definitely wanted a rosebush to start, so that is what we started off with...unfortunately we killed one of the rosebushes, but I still have my pretty red one that hasn't failed me yet. =)
This year I am going all out! I bought another rosebush (hybrid tea roses), planted some fuchsia tulips (which appear pink to me...I was hoping for a hot pink), some dahlias (yellow and purple ) which have not been planted, and a strawberry plant (yes people I am trying it again). I will back track for a sec and tell you that I am really not the one planting but it is actually Demetrius...he has planted everything for me (I have just been supervising =) ) I currently cannot dig up holes and do any hardcore labor (but I will touch on that subject at a later time) =)
Anyway, but I am really excited about the progress of everything! I am hoping to have some strawberries this year and I plan on growing a couple of watermelons too! Yes! I think my dad thinks I am crazy but he and Demetrius are going along with it and supporting my endeavor =) My dad comes into play because my dad has the ultimate green thumb...he has a garden and lots of plants and flowers...he is very in touch with nature, so he is going to help get my soil right and school me on taming those watermelons...he said they can get out of hand! Yikes!
I hope and pray that we will do better with the blog this year and we will definitely keep you posted on the progress of the flowers and yummy fruits (I am excited thinking about it!)
